Salt Dough

My oldest worked with salt dough in art class at school and was eager to do it some more, so we pulled out the mixing bowl and measuring cups and went to town!

First measure out 1 cup of salt and put it into a mixing bowl.

Measure a cup of flour, and mix with the salt.

Pour in about 3/4 cup of water.

Stir and knead to combine.

Once it is mixed, it will have a similar consistency to Play Doh. Sculpt what ever your heart desires. We made reindeer since it was Christmas time.

Let it set out on the counter for about a week until it is hard, (or you can bake it at a low temperature for about an hour).

You can add food colouring to the dough if you want, but we left ours white? Why? Because after it is hard and dried out, you can paint it! And that is oh so fun!

After your paint is dry, glue gun some pipe cleaner antlers, googly eyes, or whatever do-dads you want to finish off your product. Very fun.
