Feather Painting

We had some fun with paint this morning. I had picked up a package of crafting feathers at the dollar store this week for a project I was planning on doing with the kids, and with the left overs we revisited a favourite way to create art.

Instead of painting with a paintbrush, use a feather. It gives different strokes than a brush, and it is a fun way to mix things up a bit.

One thing about feather painting though is that you can't easily rinse out the feather and use it in a different colour of paint, like you can with a brush. So you really need a feather per colour. I managed to find a craft feather in each colour of paint, which helped us remember which feather belonged in which pot and not get the paints all mixed up.

Dipping the purple feather in the purple paint.

Happily watching the thick and thin strokes his feather is creating.

A masterpiece!
