Boo!

Have you ever been a Secret Santa - where you give someone a surprise gift anonymously? We do something similar to that for our friends and neighbors at Halloween. We call it 'Booing.' We make a treat and leave it and a note on the doorstep, ring the bell, and run away as quickly as we can -disappearing like a ghost - so that our friends find a surprise and don't know who it is from. It is so fun.

The note we include encourages them to pass on the fun, and to boo a couple other families to spread the fun. Of course, they don't have to, but it is great when they do.

Here is the note:

The air is cool, the season fall,

Soon Halloween will come to all.

Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...

Tricky witches at your door.

The spooks are after things to do,

In fact a spook brought this "Boo" to you!

The excitement comes when friends like you,

Copy this note and make it two.

We'll all have smiles upon our faces,

No one will know who "BOO"ed who's places!

Just two short days to work your spell,

Keep it secret, hide it well.

Please join the fun, the seasons here .

Just spread these "BOO's" and Halloween cheer.

This year we took some of these beautiful apples and shared them.

It would have been nicer to have clear cellophane bags to put them in, but we made do with plastic wrap. We tied them with a Halloween ribbon to give them a little extra wow.

In the cover of darkness, we got our treats and crept over to the door.

We put the apples and the note in front of the door, and then rang the bell and dashed down the street where my husband had the van ready to whisk us away. It is fun, and the kids think it is terribly exciting to get away before we get caught!
