Froot Loop Rainbow

Our afternoon snack was the result of a happy accident. I wanted to do a rainbow craft for a St. Patrick's Day activity, and I thought it might be fun to use Froot Loops. So I went out and bought the cereal specifically to make the craft.

Then when I pulled them out and went to do this with the kids, we had no white glue. We had glue sticks, but no liquid glue. We tried to use the glue sticks, but it wasn't working. So we threw our attempts away, and started afresh. Turns out the kids liked the snack version better than the craft version anyway!

First we dumped out about half the box, and sorted them into separate bowls.

Got a clean sheet of paper.

I drew the arches of the rainbow and labeled the lines with the different colours, (a little reading practise while we are at it, right?)

Then the kids set the Froot Loops out, following the lines.

Having fun.

Finished the rainbow - now it is time to eat! After eating up all her picture, she looked up at me and asked, "Mom, can I make another Froot Loop picture?" Ha!

  1. What a good idea! When they glue things like cereal what they really want is to eat it!
